About Us

The Halifax Transition House Association has been operating the Bryony House Shelter for more than 40 years in Halifax. Bryony House is an emergency shelter for women and their children who are leaving situations of intimate partner violence. Some of the programs that we offer at the shelter encompass providing basic needs for families like shelter, food, clothing, transportation, and medications. We help to build on the resiliency of individuals and families to move on from abuse. We also provide one on one and group programming. Bryony House is the only shelter in the Atlantic Region that offers a full-time daily supportive play program for children and youth.
