TANYA TYNSKI, SENIOR AVISOR, MC ADVISORY
Tanya came to MCA with extensive knowledge and understanding in all areas of human resource management both at the strategic and operational levels.
In her last role as Executive Director of Human Resources and Pharmacare for Health PEI, she was responsible for leading strategic human resource and pharmacare initiatives and best practices for the province’s largest employer.
She also provided leadership for HR with the Department of Education and Early Child Development for the province of Prince Edward Island.
Tanya’s focus on results led to a track record as a highly capable change agent, and a forward-thinking leader, and she has become well-respected for her ability to understand the organizational strategic direction and operationalize it on the front line.
She values relationships build on trust and integrity through fostering transparency and engagement.
KAREN LOCKERBY, SENIOR ADVISOR, MC ADVISORY
With over 16 years’ experience leading legal, policy, advisory, and operational teams within large government organizations in New South Wales, Australia and Nova Scotia, Canada, Karen has a proven track record of providing strategic advice and successfully delivering both large- and small-scale projects that involve multiple stakeholders, complex issues and sensitive subject matters.
With a deep understanding of complex public and social sector challenges, Karen is known for providing impactful and action-oriented solutions for her clients. She has a focus in using people centered strategies and restorative design to assist government organizations, not-for-profit entities, and indigenous communities to develop programs and services that are more innovative, effective, accessible, equitable and inclusive.
IAN PICKARD, PARTNER, MCINNES COOPER
Ian is a Partner in our Halifax office. He provides advice daily to all kinds of employers across Nova Scotia in all matters relating to human resources, hiring, discipline and termination. Ian has successfully argued civil jury cases relating to both employment and personal injury before all levels of court in Nova Scotia; he has also appeared numerous times before the Labour Relations Board and the Labour Standards Tribunal. The skill with which Ian conducts his practice has earned him a place on the Best Lawyers in Canada list for his practice in Education law and Labour and Employment law since 2006.
Ian acts as chief negotiator for several major employers and school boards in Atlantic Canada. He conducts collective bargaining for large and small employers in Nova Scotia and has considerable expertise in negotiating and drafting collective agreements. He frequently participates in arbitrations on behalf of employers in Nova Scotia.
A much sought after presenter, Ian regularly speaks at labour and employment conferences and education law seminars. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society, and the Canadian Association Counsel to Employer (CACE). Ian is past President of the Canadian Association Practical Study of Law in Education (CAPSLE). In his community, Ian is past President of the Oakfield Golf and Country Club, and past President of Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Ian is the solicitor for Hockey Nova Scotia and currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Halifax Major Bantam Hockey Club.
