Business Support Series: Exploring Intersectionality
Intersectionality must be a core framework for companies, institutions, and societies that seek to rectify legacies of inequity and injustice.
The concept of intersectionality describes the ways in which systems of inequality based on gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, class and other forms of discrimination “intersect” to create unique dynamics and effects
Although it has become commonplace for companies and organizations alike to adopt diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, this work has almost always excluded intersectionality. In this workshop, we will be discussing the importance of intersectionality and providing tangible examples of how business owners can use the theory to strengthen their policies and practices.
