COFFEE CHAT: Storytelling for Business

In this session:
Join artist & entrepreneur Terrence Taylor to learn the science of storytelling, how our childhood experiences shape the way we tell tales as adults and how to utilize this information to improve our lives as professionals and business owners.
The session will include an introduction to a storytelling template, connection of this template to familiar childhood stories and iconic pop culture moments and then applying this blueprint personally and professionally. By reviewing & rewriting our personal stories and beliefs, we improve our overall mental health as humans. And once you operate more positively as “(insert name), the human”, you’re able to transfer that energy to your business and achieve the ultimate end goal of increasing sales.

Terrence is originally from Las Vegas and moved to Nova Scotia in 2004. He began his first business venture at the age of five, selling bracelets at a local Kwanzaa celebration. He then started a neighborhood lawn mowing business at 12, making flyers with his grandmother’s computer on Microsoft Paint and at 25, entered the footwear industry to resell hundreds of sneakers around the world. Since then, Terrence has successfully launched multiple businesses in the food, content production and education industries. His companies were always a culmination of life experiences and passion projects that he was clever enough to turn into a profitable business.
Terrence is an artist at his core and pairs creativity with the systems, plans and blueprints to successfully deliver on his big ideas. He has an eclectic background and can work with anyone but focuses on prioritizing the stories of youth and creating safe spaces for people to share and be honest & vulnerable.
He’s also attended enough events & conferences and received resources that got thrown away at the door or never looked at again. This helped prompt his 2023 shift away from online storytelling, to dust off old lesson plans from his classroom teaching days and repackage these learnings into books and human experiences. All four of his books are written with school curriculum outcomes embedded, but are made for learners of all ages. Books are paired with an in-person experience, signing and meet & greet so that both the event and the book will last in your mind & soul (and on your bookshelf) forever!
