MODULE #1: Education About Dementia
There are 567,000 people in Canada who are living with Dementia - is your organization equipped to support them and the millions of care partners who care for them?
Through the help of the Nova Scotia Age Friendly Communities Program, The Halifax Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce our ability to provide a five part education series to businesses and organizations interested in creating an inclusive environment for people living with dementia and their various care partners and family members.
In this series of 5 education sessions, company leaders and their employees will learn what is dementia, and how to recognize someone who is living with the disease. We will explore how to support your customers and clients in a variety of ways, from inclusive environments that encourage a calming and relaxing experience, provide effective ways to communicate effectively with your clients and customers living with dementia and their care partners, and provide tailored information based on your company or organization. Once you and your staff have completed the modules, you’ll be able to advertise that you have done your work to support those living with dementia and their care partners!
The course will be delivered online using the Zoom platform with the exception of the first session, that will be held in person at the Halifax Chamber building, and will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. As a cohort partner with the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, once you’ve completed the 5 modules, you will receive explicit access to our online education platform where you will be able to access recordings of all 5 modules as much as you want, for as long as you want!
