Meet Your Panelists:
Alex Halef, President & CEO of BANC Group
Alex Halef, an Industrial Engineer (graduate of Daltech, Dalhousie formerly TUNS) is President and CEO of BANC Group. BANC's business is the acquisition, design, construction and management of purpose-built mixed-use high-rise concrete multi-family apartment and commercial developments. Predominantly an urban developer, but with land interests in the suburbs, Alex and the BANC team are constantly focused on striving to maintain the precedent of producing buildings of the highest standard possible, but as cost effective as possible to achievable a livable project for the broadest demographic. Alex has also sat on the boards of various organizations and is an active member of his community and is married with four beautiful children.
Duncan Williams, President & CEO of the Construction Association of Nova Scotia
Duncan Williams, ICD.D, joined the Construction Association of Nova Scotia as its President on January 31, 2011. During the past two decades, Duncan has held Senior and Executive level positions with CNIB in Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. As General Manager for Caterplan, CNIB's food service operation, Duncan had responsibility for more than 55 full-service catering and restaurant outlets. He also occupied the position of Executive Director for the Maritimes and with other organizations.
With a passion for government relations, business development, marketing and strategic planning, Duncan enjoys new challenges. He holds a Masters degree from Dalhousie University and Bachelors degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland. His areas of concentration included public administration, marketing, business and social work. He also earned his ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors through the Rotman School of Business.
Duncan is a Doctoral Fellow recipient for his research in vision loss and employment.
Kelly Denty, Executive Director of Planning and Development with the Halifax Regional Municipality
Kelly Denty is Executive Director of Planning and Development with the Halifax Regional Municipality. As department head, she leads a team of professionals who ensure HRM's planning programs, policies and services create complete and sustainable communities. With over 34 years of experience in the administration of municipal planning and land development programs, Kelly is accomplished in all aspects of planning and land use regulation and is recognized as a subject matter expert in this area.
