Event Description:

The Halifax Chamber is pleased to offer a FREE 10 week, educational program to help grow your business. This program is offered to businesses, managers, and employees at zero cost. Invest your time into learning the skills, and the resources available to benefit your business, managers or employees.

HUMAN RESOURCES TRAINING

Human Resource knowledge is the source for creating a healthy, profitable workplace. Good HR practices are required to create an environment where employees are committed to the business success and provide excellent customer service.

All managers are HR Managers; however, business owners and managers rarely receive formal Human Resources training. This can lead to frustration, wasted time and costly mistakes. Issues that are not addressed (or addressed poorly) fester, stagnate growth and interfere with achieving performance goals.

This HR training provides you with the tools and confidence to handle common workplace situations. From hiring the right people to paying them properly, dealing with performance issues and when necessary ending employment.  You will also learn how to implement a basic HR structure that will ensure you are legally compliant.

COURSE MODULES:

  • Successful hiring
  • Conducting Performance Reviews
  • Managing Attendance and Performance
  • Employment Legislation
  • Employee Handbook Policies
  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Health and Safety Compliance
  • Respectful Terminations
  • Pay and benefits
  • Organizing Personnel Files

About the Trainer:

Genevieve MacInnis has 20 years of Human Resources experience working with midsized Canadian companies and large multinationals in both unionized and non-unionized environments.

She has delivered over 1000 hours of HR, Leadership, Communication and Conflict Resolution training.
