Tara Taylor, Manager, Light House Arts Centre
With a diverse array of talents, a passion for the arts, and a profound commitment to promoting underrepresented voices, Tara has carved a unique path in the entertainment industry. Tara wears multiple creative hats with aplomb. She is a gifted playwright, known for her original works such as "Viola: the Musical," "Hood Habits," and "Love, Peace and Hairgrease." These plays, co-produced with Eastern Front Theatre, have left a lasting impact and were nominated for Outstanding Production at the prestigious Robert Merritt Awards.
Tara is not only an artist but a tireless advocate for the amplification of underrepresented voices in the arts. As the Chair of the Union of Black Artists Society and a board member of Black Women Film! Canada, she tirelessly works to break down barriers and promote inclusivity in the industry. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Tara was honored with the ANSMA Industry Development 2021 Award.
Sarah Moore Fillmore, CEO, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia
As former Chief Curator of the AGNS, Sarah is a Canadian leader in the curation of contemporary art and has a deep understanding of the role art and museums play in community. She has focused her career on the advancement of emerging Canadian artists, championing those who push the boundaries of their artistic practice. With a keen interest in Atlantic Canadian art situated within a national context, Sarah has successfully elevated regional art practices to national and international levels.
For over 18 years, Sarah has lead various teams at the AGNS and has played a critical role in advancing the institution, the provincial collection, and community impact through health and wellness programming based in the arts. She has supported revenue generation through earned and contributed revenue and has worked closely with donors, supporters, and other constituents to create a strong foundation for the future of the AGNS. Sarah is an admired and respected leader with an unwavering passion for art, artistic practice, and museums.
Holly Mathieson, Music Director, Symphony NS
New Zealand-born Holly Mathieson is an award-winning conductor, regularly working with opera houses, ballet companies, and orchestras in Europe, Australasia, and North America. She frequently records for BBC Radio 3 and CBC, and her first major commercial recording with Decca, a collaboration with Isata Kanneh-Mason and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, reached #1 on the UK classical charts.
Her work has seen her travel to nearly every continent on the planet, and perform for audiences spanning from the British Royal Family and Europe’s political elites, to Scotland’s homeless and refugee communities. A passionate communicator, with crystalline technique and a collaborative approach, she has won plaudits in all forms of music direction from opera, ballet, and family concerts, to full-scale symphonic programmes.
Jeremy Webb (he/him), Artistic Director, Neptune Theatre
Jeremy moved to Canada, from his native UK, in 1998, making Halifax home. He grew up in Cambridge and trained at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Jeremy has been working at Neptune ever since 1998, in so many capacities.
For Neptune he has directed many shows including: Murder For Two, Billy Elliot, Mamma Mia!, and more! A few of his on stage appearances with Neptune Theatre include 'Cogsworth' in Beauty and The Beast and 'Jaggers' in Great Expectations. Jeremy won a Best Actor Merritt Award for his portrayal of 'Iago' in Othello, for Shakespeare By The Sea and a Best Director Merritt for Little Thing, Big Thing. In 2017, he was awarded The ACTRA David Renton Award of Excellence (for service to the film & TV union.) he will happily tell you that his 'best productions' are his sons Dylan (8) and Samuel (11.)
