POWER LUNCH: Privacy and Your Business - An Introduction to PIPEDA

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) provides information to help businesses comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and better protect the privacy of Canadians, their clients, and customers. This information session is free-of-charge, during which advisors from the OPC's Business Advisory Directorate will provide an overview of PIPEDA and it's 10 Privacy Principles, illustrate how these principles apply to businesses, and answer questions regarding Canada?s federal private-sector privacy law.
In-person Privacy Clinics can also be arranged after the session, where business leaders can meet one-on-one with an advisor to discuss privacy matters specific to their business and get relevant advice and guidance.

Kelly O'Hearn - With over 12 years of experience working with federal privacy legislation, Kelly joined the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) in 2020 as an Advisor with the Business Advisory Directorate. For Kelly, talking about privacy has become a passion.
With the OPC, Kelly works closely with individual businesses to provide practical, meaningful advice and guidance on their personal information handling practices. She enjoys working with businesses of all shapes and sizes through presentations, Privacy Clinics, and consultations to help them better comply with PIPEDA.
Charlotte Wong - Charlotte has worked at the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada since 2015. She has taken on a number of roles including Senior Privacy Investigator and acting Director of the OPC's Toronto Regional Office and is currently a Senior Advisor in the Business Advisory Directorate.
Charlotte's main role is to provide PIPEDA advice and guidance to organizations and ensuring compliance with privacy law. She also conducts a variety of stakeholder activities and speaking engagements related to PIPEDA compliance.
Prior to joining the OPC, Charlotte held a variety of positions within the Government of Canada and the private sector. She holds an International Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business.
