WCB Nova Scotia: We’re Changing How We Work for You

WCB Nova Scotia is the province’s provider of workplace injury insurance, covering 19,500 employers and 325,000 workers in Nova Scotia.

For over 100 years, the WCB has been there for workers and employers in Nova Scotia – helping to prevent workplace injury, illness and tragedy and providing security from its impact to workers and their families when it does occur.

Today, workplace injuries are down significantly and there are fewer days lost to injury than a decade ago. But there is still work to be done to prepare the organization for its next century of service.

The WCB is fundamentally transforming its business to better serve its stakeholders. This multi-year modernization initiative will improve service, and change the way the WCB works with you.

Join CEO, Stuart MacLean, as he shares how the WCB is creating a modern and efficient system for workers and employers in Nova Scotia.

Stuart MacLean
Chief Executive Officer, WCB Nova Scotia

Throughout his career, Stuart MacLean has come to know first-hand the impact of workplace injuries and fatalities on workers and their families.

Stuart is a true champion for workplace safety, with an unwavering passion for preventing workplace injury and helping to manage its impact when it does occur.

Stuart joined WCB Nova Scotia in 1986. His passion for health and safety quickly grew as he assumed progressive leadership roles. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer in January 2012. Under his leadership, time-loss injury has declined. Today, 30 per cent fewer Nova Scotians are hurt at work than a decade ago.

Outside of his leadership at the WCB, Stuart chairs the Association of Workers’ Compensation Boards of Canada. He is also a community leader, serving on the Board of Governors for Acadia University, and Past-Chair of the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Greater Halifax.

Working with a wide range of partners and stakeholders, Stuart MacLean is committed to making Nova Scotia the safest place to work in Canada.
