Universities: Drivers of our Economy!

Universities are a powerful contributor to the region's economic prosperity, social and cultural development, talent attraction and retention, productivity and competitiveness.

Hear from Dianne Taylor-Gearing, President of NSCAD, and Kent MacDonald, President of StFX University as they address the economic importance and value of universities to Nova Scotians, both at a macro (provincial impacts) and micro (direct and indirect contributions to regional/local economies) level.

Specifically:

A) At a macro/provincial level: the presentation will illustrate how universities are a major generator of export revenues (domestic and international enrollments and attraction of research funding) within the context of the ONE NS Report and its stretch goals of inter-provincial migration, retention of international students and international migration, value of exports, post-secondary education training and R&D contributions.

B) At a micro/local level: the presentation will illustrate  direct and indirect fiscal, social and cultural benefits delivered within regional/local economies.
