About Us

United Way Halifax brings donors, volunteers and partners together to create lasting social change. We provide funding, lead projects, and advocate for change – all with the goal of building a more inclusive community that is free of poverty.
In 2021 we were awarded the Not-for-Profit of the Year award by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce in recognition of our leadership in providing $4.6 million in local COVID relief funding to support those in need of safe shelter, nutritious meals, and social connection.
Donations made to United Way Halifax stay here in our local community and help to remove barriers, provide supports and create opportunities for marginalized people. It will take all of us working together – businesses, individuals, and governments – to realize our vision of a Halifax that is united by compassion, rich in opportunity, and free of poverty.
