About Us
Since 1979, the Nova Scotia League for Equal Opportunities (NSLEO, the League) has been both a conduit for information and a catalyst for change in bringing forward issues and changing the narrative for persons with disabilities. NSLEO engages all levels of government while working collaboratively and cross-sectorally as a hub in bringing together organizations and individuals to address issues of accessibility, inclusion, and equity for persons with disabilities with the goal to encourage, formulate and propose workable solutions. We act in an advisory capacity promoting necessary changes to policies, programs and services in order to build and strengthen capacity in government, community and private sectors.
As a registered nonprofit charity, the League, an affiliate of the Council of Canadians with Disabilities (CCD), takes a leading role as a cross-disability voice for Nova Scotians. We act as an information hub in building social, community, and political leadership where people with disabilities are recognized as equals.
