DESCRIPTION:Conflict Management and Resolution in the Workplace\nConciliation and Mediation Services (CMS) is a team of neutral third parties that provides impartial alternative dispute resolution services to unionized workplaces across Nova Scotia free of charge\, everyday. As such\, they regularly work with individuals and groups who are experiencing conflict.\n\n \n\nLet's face it\, conflict is all around us. It impacts many workplaces and labour-management relationships negatively when it is not managed effectively. This 1.5 hour workshop explores the definition of conflict\, its causes\, and the potential costs and benefits associated with it. You will learn and apply a framework for managing and resolving conflict effectively to minimize the costs and maximize the benefits!\n\n \nAbout the Presenter\n \n\nLindsey Hewitt\, Relationship Education and Awareness Officer\n\n\n\nCMS hired Lindsey Hewitt for their newly created Relationship\, Education\, and Awareness Officer position in 2016. In this role\, she focuses on increasing awareness of CMS\, as well as developing and facilitating workshops. She has worked with dozens of labour-management groups across Nova Scotia to assist them in improving their labour management relationships\, communications and conflict resolution skills.\n\n \n\nPrior to joining CMS\, Lindsey owned her own consulting company in St. John's\, NL. She has an MBA\, a BBA\, a Teaching Certificate\, and a Certificate in Economic Development. She is currently working on a Certificate in Conflict Resolution to add to her skillset. When she is not working\, Lindsey can be found hiking\, biking\, or cross-country skiing\, often with her dogs Lola and Ollie in tow.
