Communicating in a Crisis
Join Patrick Sullivan, President & CEO of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, as he interviews Tara Wickwire, Associate Vice President, Marketing and Brand Strategy and Kristan Hines, Vice President, Public Affairs of NATIONAL.
This conversation will cover various phases of communication: crisis response, employee communications, stakeholder relations and the importance of leadership showing up well.
Kristan Hines
Kristan is a relationship builder who is driven to achieve results. She has spent the past 15 years providing strategic counsel, communications and operational support to senior and political leaders both in Nova Scotia and across Canada. Prior to joining NATIONAL, Kristan served as Chief of Staff to the Premier of Nova Scotia.
A strategic thinker, Kristan combines strong communications and planning skills with experience in public policy development, issues management, and stakeholder engagement. Her calm, steady approach to problem solving and collaborative leadership style allow her to tackle complex problems with measurable results. Drawing on her network, Kristan is well positioned to help clients navigate government and build effective relationships with decision makers.
In addition to holding senior roles in the Office of the Premier, Kristan served as Director of Outreach and Executive Assistant to (then) Leader of the Official Opposition in Nova Scotia. Prior to this, she spent six years in Ottawa on Parliament Hill, providing strategic political, policy and communications advice for cabinet ministers and elected members, both in government and opposition.

She is also a champion for Nova Scotia and highly engaged with the community through events like the Art of City Building conference and Doors Open Halifax and organizations such as Propel ICT, Brigadoon, Atlantic Tennis Centre and the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron.
