About the Presenters
Sheri Penner
Managing Partner, Atlantic
Sheri manages Deloitte’s marketplace activities and brand throughout the region, working closely with our people to serve our Atlantic clients. As RMP, she also serves on the Canadian firm’s management executive team. Her previous roles include New Brunswick tax practice leader, National Private Tax Leader, and elected member of Deloitte Canada’s board of directors. She has worked with a wide range of clients, from small to very large companies over the course of her career. Sheri’s technical experience includes domestic tax planning, estate and succession planning, as well as Canadian corporate and personal tax compliance.
Katie Rogers
Partner, Tax
Katie is Deloitte’s Atlantic Tax and Legal Leader and serves on the National Tax Executive. With 15 years of experience, she has worked with many of Atlantic Canada’s largest privately held companies and their owners, as well as public companies, and small-medium private enterprises. Katie has worked with clients in all industries including manufacturing and processing, oil and gas, public sector and technology. Her experience includes corporate tax and estate planning, tax compliance and provisions, and tax controversy. She has also worked with several large multinational entities providing ongoing advice, while coordinating and leveraging Deloitte’s subject matter experts.
Brian Stewien
Partner – Financial Advisory
Brian is a Partner within Deloitte’s Value Creation Services practice. He has 20 years’ experience assisting clients in creating and accelerating value. Brian’s specializes in driving EBITDA and optimizing cash flow by advising on revenue growth strategies, margin improvement, cost reduction and working capital best practices. He has advised C-suite executives of private and public companies, private equity funds and their portfolio companies, banks, law firms and public institutions. He works at all stages in his client’s lifecycles and has delivered over 75 profit improvement projects across multiple industries within the Americas and Africa. Brian leads both the Private Equity Portfolio Company and Working Capital practices in Canada.
