DESCRIPTION:The Halifax Chamber of Commerce is working hard to provide our members with resources\, information and value. We are pleased to announce that we will be offering a round of FREE online training programs to help grow your business in collaboration with the Department of Labour\, Skills\, and Immigration. This program is offered to businesses\, managers\, and employees at zero cost as a benefit of your membership. \n\n\nTRAINING OVERVIEW:\n\nProject Management training is a 10 week program that will start on Thursday\, January 19\, 2023\,  and takes place once per week every Thursday from 9:00 am -1:00 pm. These training sessions are in high demand with our members. Please only register if you are 100% committed to fully participating in this training. You will be required to participate in 80% of the sessions in order to receive the certificate. \n\n\n	\n	Preference will be given to members. Future members interested in joining the Halifax Chamber of Commerce\, please contact Cindy Mann at: cindy@halifaxchamber.com\n	\n	\n	There are only 12 spaces available for this session   if the session is full\, please add yourself to the waitlist\, you will be contacted only if a spot opens up.\n	\n	\n	We are limiting this training to 1 employee representative per membership in order to allow more members the opportunity to participate.\n\n	\n\n\nTRAINING TIMELINE:\n\n\n	\n	Once the training session is full\, you will be contacted with the required Service Registration Intake Form which must be completed in full and returned by the specified date or you will lose your spot.\n	\n	\n	Once you return your forms\, your contact information will be provided to your trainer and they will contact you to complete an Individual Needs Assessment to ensure this training is the right fit for you and your business.\n	\n	\n	Your trainer will then become your point of contact for the training and they will provide you with the information on how to join the sessions each week.\n\n	 \n	\n\n\n\n\n\nPARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS:\n\n\n	\n	The program must be taken on a computer\, laptop\, or tablet\, no phones.\n	\n	\n	Participants must have an Internet connection\, hardwired preferred vs wi-fi\, high speed no dial up.\n	\n	\n	Headset or earbuds and must have a webcam. If no webcam\, in-laptop video participation is a requirement.\n	\n	\n	Participants must display video\; required to ensure the connection to the instructor and other participants.\n	\n	\n	A quiet place to focus is required\, free of distractions.\n	\n\n\n*The above are critically important not only for the success of individual participants but also the success of the entire group.\n\n\nPROJECT MANAGEMENT TRAINING\n\nThis 40 hour instructional course is designed to provide tools and templates to manage projects of any size. Following standard project management methodology\, the course will provide instruction in:\n\n\n	What is a project\n	Project charter\n	Work breakdown structure\n	Assigning resources to project tasks\n	Project budget\n	Gantt chart\n	Project risk\n	Communication plan\n	Project life cycle\n\n\nParticipants will be given the opportunity to work on real-life projects of their interest\, utilizing tried and true project management processes and the latest cloud-based software systems.\n\n\nABOUT THE TRAINER:\n\n\n\nStephen Antle\n\nStephen Antle has worked in project management for over 20 years in the private sector as well as in the not-for-profit sector.\n\n\n\nHe currently runs his own social media/digital marketing company focused on a small number of clients.\n\n\n\nStephen is an instructor with Workplace Education Initiatives for the Department of Labour and Advanced Education. He instructs courses in Project Management\, Communications\, Transformative Leadership\, Proposal Writing\, Social Media for Business and Content Marketing. Stephen spent 10 years in television production as a host and producer and has served as chair of the East Coast Music Awards in 2007\, 2011 and 2016. He is also a founding member of the Stan Rogers Folk Festival Society\, for which he has served as the main stage emcee for 25 years.
