SUMMARY:POWER LUNCH: DEA&I and Your Business – What do I do next?
DESCRIPTION:Our members have been on a journey with us at the Chamber to tackle issues surrounding diversity\, equity\, accessibility and inclusion (DEA&I). Last month we hosted our sold-out inaugural Surge Conference to unite Halifax businesses on the path toward inclusivity and understanding. Building on the momentum of Surge\, we are offering a series of luncheons to help you and your business keep moving on your DEA&I journey.\n\n\n\nThe most common question we hear is HOW? Join us for this session with DEA&I experts\, Dr. Adrienne Girling and Josh Creighton\, who will help us answer this by tailoring the conversation to you and your business. This Power Lunch will offer a place for discussion about the challenges you are facing on your DEA&I journey including suggestions for how to overcome them. We will also provide information to refresh you on the Chamber's DEA&I toolkit and resources and recommendations for your next steps\, by meeting you where you are on the journey.\n\n\n\nDEA&I is not straightforward. It involves getting uncomfortable and looking inward\, at ourselves and our organizations. It involves talking with each other about difficult things\, like racism and discrimination. It involves asking hard questions. And it leads to growth\, richer and deeper relationships\, and meaningful business engagement.\n\n\n\nJoin us for this open discussion and bring along some of your current DEA&I questions and potential challenges. We will discuss and generate ideas for practical ways forward as a group. We are all in this together.\n\n \n\nPresenters\n\n\n\nDr. Adrienne Girling \n\nEquity\, Diversity and Inclusion Consultant\n\nDr. Adrienne Girling is a thought leader and consultant in equity\, diversity and inclusion (EDI). She provides specialist advice to help organizations and businesses to actively become more inclusive and tackle systemic discrimination. Her EDI work is people and insights-led\, grounded in her doctorate training in cross-cultural psychology\, research and evaluation. She identifies as queer and non-binary and has lived experience of stigma and discrimination as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.\n\n\n\nAdrienne provides consulting services in Halifax\, Nova Scotia\, across Canada and internationally. Get in touch with Adrienne for a free 30-minute consultation about the DEAI needs in your business. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJosh Creighton\n\nCommunity Engagement Specialist - Halifax Chamber of Commerce \n\nJosh began his work with The Halifax Chamber of Commerce as Community Engagement Specialist\, which he excelled at for the simple fact that his work aligns with his personal beliefs and values. \n\n\n\nJosh has since moved into the Corporate Partnership Specialist position and works to secure strategic partnerships with the Halifax Chamber that enhance the Chamber's impact to the local community here in Halifax.
