DESCRIPTION:Presenting Partner\n\n\n\nThe Halifax Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome the government of Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs\, M lanie Joly to present to Chamber members in Halifax on February 7th. With President Trump's policy threats moving from executive orders to action\, this is a unique opportunity to hear from the Canadian Minister who is on the front lines of the issue\, negotiating at the highest levels with the US government. \n\n \n\nThe US administration's decisions will have a wide range of impacts on Canada and Nova Scotia. While specifics are evolving\, it is clear that our business community will be impacted at all levels   from SMEs to multi-national organizations. All these organizations will need significant support from all levels of government\, as well as from the legal\, consulting  and financial sectors\, to name a few. \n\n \n\nPlease join us in support of our business community during these uncertain times and hear first-hand the risks and solutions facing us all as our governments navigate the significant economic risks from our largest trading partner. \n\n \n\n\n\nThe Honourable M lanie Joly\n\nMinister of Foreign Affairs\n\n\n\nThe Honourable M lanie Joly was first elected to represent Ahuntsic-Cartierville in the House of Commons in 2015. She has previously served as Minister of Economic Development\, Minister of Tourism\, Official Languages and La Francophonie\, and Minister of Canadian Heritage.\n\n\n\nIn her ministerial roles\, Minister Joly has worked to promote Canadian culture\, and to grow and increase the visibility of Canada's tourism sector. She has also worked to safeguard Canada's two official languages while promoting the use of French in Canada and around the world\, including in the digital sphere.\n\n\n\nPrior to entering federal politics\, Minister Joly founded the Vrai changement pour Montr al party and ran for mayor of Montr al in 2013 under its banner.\n\n\n\nMinister Joly holds an Honours Bachelor of Law from the Universit  de Montr al and a Magister Juris in European and Comparative Law from the University of Oxford. She is the author of Changing the Rules of the Game\, in which she shares her vision for public policy and civic engagement.
