Hosted by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce\, this series will feature a wide range of topics on how to survive and thrive. \n\n \n\nA conversation about preventing workplace sexual harassment to create a safe space for all employees\nJoin us on December 7th to engage in a conversation about what sexual harassment in the work place looks like and what steps businesses can take to prevent such situations. \n\n\n\nWe will host a panel of community leaders who will share their knowledge and expertise. Our panelists will be covering the following topics: \n\n\n \n Compassionate Listening \n \n \n Art Therapy \n \n \n Bystander Training \n \n \n The Employer Toolkit\n \n\n\nRegister today and submit your question!\n\n\n\nABOUT THE PANELISTS:\n\n\nShila LeBlanc \n\nShila LeBlanc (Shy-la\, she/her pronouns) is a queer settler\, treaty land inhabitant\, and practitioner of restorative facilitation and restorative justice. Her mission is to expand awareness and access to restorative methods given their powerful potential for justice and healing in micro and macro ways. She founded Restorative Approach which offers restorative conflict services as well as restorative education for organizations and individuals.\n\n \n\n\nEvie Dunville\n\nEvie Dunville (EV-ee Done-ville) of K'jipuktuk (Halifax)\, Nova Scotia was trained in psychology\, jewelry design and metalsmithing before earning her certification as an Art Therapist from the Kutenai Art Therapy Institute. Evie believes in creating a sustainable and accessible environment for creativity and wellness to flourish. She often intertwines the written word with art\, holding space emphasized or accentuated by prose and inspired by nature. This intentional approach meets each new individual with respect\, faith and acceptance.\n\n \n\n\nNicole Watkins Campbell \n\nNicole Watkins Campbell is a freelance editor and plain language consultant. During 30 years with the Nova Scotia government\, she worked to make communication clear and effective. She led a plain language policy committee and edited print and web materials in nearly every area of life that a provincial government touches. \n\nMore recently\, Nicole has worked with clients to make communication about the law and governance clearer. She has edited public legal and financial information and apps on wills\, powers of attorney and personal directives to make them clearer for average readers. She has trained editors and writers to improve legal and technical writing. Nicole is treasurer of the Plain Language Association InterNational and a member of Editors Canada and other plain language organizations.\n\n\n\nHeather de Berdt Romilly \n\nHeather de Berdt Romilly (de Bert Rhom-ill-y) is the executive director at LISNS. She has been leading LISNS since 2014\, building a reputation for helping Nova Scotians in a meaningful way to both prevent conflict and deal with legal issues. Heather is a lawyer with a Master of Laws degree in conflict resolution and has extensive public sector and non-profit experience. She is the former president of the Public Legal Education Association of Canada\, the first female president of the ADR Institute of Canada and a former chair member of the Avalon Sexual Assault Centre board.\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\nMakayla Jodrey \n\nMakayla Jodrey (Mah-kay-lah Joe-dree) is the public relations coordinator for the Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia. She is a recent graduate from public relations advanced diploma program at NSCC. Makayla has extensive experience in working with non-profits and works primarily on the Sexual Harassment in the Workplace project at LISNS. Makayla also holds a bachelor of arts in political science and international development from StFX.
