A complimentary workshop to help you with your submission application. \n\nJoin us for this 1 hour virtual workshop to help you identify the best approach to completing your submission. Get advice from the professionals\, meet the Halifax Chamber team and get started on your submission so you can wow the judges. \n\n\n	Gain insights from one of the Judges on the Halifax Business Awards Judging Committee\,\n	Hear from a past winner on their tips for success\, and\n	Learn from our facilitator on how to complete a successful submission\n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\nPast Winner - Business Leader of the Year\n\nMike Davis\, Davis Pier Consulting\n\nMike (he/him) won Business Leader of the Year in 2025 at the Halifax Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.  Mike is a thought leader in government transformation and innovation\, with over 20-years of experience in consulting across Canada and in countries in Europe\, Africa\, and Asia. He is well-regarded not only for his ability to design and architect strategies and solutions to complex public sector issues for clients\, but also for overseeing their implementation. Mike leads Davis Pier's social innovation efforts focused on helping government by using behavioural science\, service design and evidence-based policy approaches to improving policy-making and program design.\n\n\n\nMike has Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Industrial Engineering from Dalhousie University and a Master's degree in Behavioural Sciences at the London School of Economics. He has attended the Harvard Kennedy School of Government's Behavioural Insights Program and is certified as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and Project Management Professional (PMP).\n\n\n\nMatthew Martel\, Chair of the Halifax Business Awards Judging Committee\n\nChief Executive Officer\, BBI\n\nA Certified Project Manager who believes in a 'people-first' approach to business\, Matthew James Martel is the Chief Executive Officer at the Black Business Initiative (BBI). He holds a master's degree in Technology\, Entrepreneurship\, and Innovation from the Sobey School of Business. A serial entrepreneur\, Matthew also has an extensive background in leadership\, Human Resources\, change management\, and strategic planning.\n\n\n\n\n\nZoran Jokic\, Training First Consulting\n\nUnlocking the potential of businesses is my passion. With over two decades of experience in business consulting\, I specialize in providing tailored solutions to optimize operations\, drive sales and marketing strategies\, ensure financial stability\, and empower HR development. Having conducted over 1000 training sessions\, I have helped countless local businesses and individuals achieve their goals.\n\n\n\nAs an accomplished IT consultant and network engineer\, I've worked with renowned national brands such as Pepsi Canada\, Adidas Canada\, Good Life Fitness\, Vet Strategy clinics\, Valvoline Oil\, and more. In the past 5 years I have helped small business owners with their online presence.
