BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT NETWORK: March 2017
In any organization, the internal Safety Culture has lasting effects on costs, productivity, staff turnover, the calibre of opportunities and ultimately your business’ reputation. A negative Safety Culture that leads to complacency or negligence can result in fines or imprisonment and, worst of all, incidents and injuries. A positive Safety Culture, however, has many benefits, with fewer incidents and injuries being the most important. It is well documented that there is an average of a $4 to $6 dollar return for every $1 invested in safety programs. Some direct and indirect benefits of a strong and sustainable Safety Culture include cost savings, lower insurance rates, higher efficiency, improved employee morale and mental health, and an overall positive public image which result in a healthy workplace for everyone.
Stephen Sayle has a B.Sc., and Masters degree from Dalhousie University, and is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) specializing in developing world class Health, Safety & Environment Management Systems (HSEMS). As the CEO of SayleGroup Inc. and SayleSafety Inc., Stephen and the team have started a “Safety Culture Movement” to ensure that the critical components of Occupational, Health and Safety Programs are incorporated into the everyday beliefs, attitudes and practices of any business’ corporate culture. To start the movement SayleSafety has launched online Safety Culture training and developed a safety management app. Drawing on his background of HSE consulting in a multitude of industries around the globe, Stephen brings a depth of experience and passion to this Safety Culture movement.
