As the Assistant Dean of Serving and Engaging Society for Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine\, she has worked to create new opportunities for the medical school to bring about positive change in the healthcare system and partner with communities to improve health outcomes. She is also Chair of the Board of Engage Nova Scotia\, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving Nova Scotia?s quality of life.\n\nA public-health specialist physician\, Dr. Watson-Creed was the Medical Officer of Health for the Halifax area for 12 years. In November 2017\, she became Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Health for Nova Scotia.\n\nWhen the Assistant Dean position was expanded from one day a week to full-time in March 2021\, Dr. Watson-Creed stepped down as Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Health to focus on her work at Dalhousie. Also in March\, she was appointed to the federal Task Force on Women in the Economy. She sits on several national population health councils and boards.\n\nDr. Watson-Creed?s many awards include the Nova Scotia Public Health Champion Award in 2013\, the William Grigor award for achievement in medicine from Doctors Nova Scotia in 2017\, and the President?s Award from Public Health Physicians of Canada in 2018. In 2019\, she was named one of the Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada by the Women?s Executive Network.\n\nDr. Watson-Creed grew up in Charlottetown\, Prince Edward Island. She has an MD from Dalhousie University (?99)\, an MSc from the University of Guelph (?97) and a BSc from UPEI (?93).\n\n \n\nDr. Daniel Boyd\n\nAssociate Professor\, School of Biomedical Engineering\n\nDalhousie University\n\n\n\nAs a globally recognized inventor of several biomaterial technologies\, Danny?s work focuses on investigating and developing pioneering glass compounds that can treat a wide range of diseases. To date\, Danny?s novel glass technologies have been proven to aid in cancer treatment\, the healing of bone fractures\, tooth decay\, and more.\n\n\n\nHis research interests are focused on the development of therapeutic/regenerative biomaterials for clinical indications in areas of trauma\, oncology\, neurovascular interventions and hard tissue augmentation. To achieve these solutions they actively research within the test parameters of internationally recognized protocols to evaluate new biomaterials in terms of safety and efficacy.\n\n\n\nDanny has been a lead player in the creation of three med-tech start ups in the region\, attracting more than $70M to the region. \n\n \n\n \n\nDr. Shashi Gujar\n\nExecutive Director\, Cancer Immunotherapy\, Innovation & Global Partnerships\n\nFaculty of Medicine\, Dalhousie University \n\n\n\nShashi is at the forefront of finding treatments that will help improve our body?s immune response to cancer cells. His research is focused on molecular and immunological aspects of human health\, specially targeting personalized and precision cancer immunotherapies. Immuno-oncology is the new wave in cancer treatment.\n\n\n\nDalhousie is a leader in Immune Innovations. He is also beginning to research how the COVID-19 virus could help us in fighting various cancers. Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation is currently funding an international collaboration between Dalhousie and academic and biotech institutions in India. \n\n\n\n \n\n \n\nGabrielle Masone\n\nFounder & CEO Coloursmith\n\n\n\nThe founder and CEO of Coloursmith. Gabrielle's responsibilities within the company involve\, among others\, business development and new project exploration. A graduate of the Faculty of Chemistry at Dalhousie University and Chemical Engineering Technology at Seneca College. Long-time advocate of vision care with Prevent Blindness America and the Canadian National Institute of the Blind.
