DESCRIPTION:The Halifax Chamber of Commerce is working hard to provide our members with resources\, information and value. We are pleased to offer a round of FREE online training programs to help grow your business. This program is offered to businesses\, managers\, and employees at zero cost as a benefit of your membership. \n\n \nTRAINING OVERVIEW:\n\n\nFinancial Management (Level II) training is a 12 week program that will start on Monday April 26th\, 2021 and take place every MONDAY from 9:30 am -12:30 pm.\n\n\n\n***The Financial Management (Level II) course requires the participant to have completed the Financial Management (Level I) course.\n\n\n\nThese training sessions are in high demand with our members. Please consider your schedule beforehand and only register if you are 100% committed to fully participating in this training. You will be required to participate in 80% of the sessions in order to receive the certificate.\n\n \n\n	\n	This training is for members only. Future members interested in joining\, please contact Cindy Mann\, Membership Sales Manager: cindy@halifaxchamber.com \n	\n	\n	There are only 12 spaces available for this session   if the session is full\, please add yourself to the waitlist\, you will be contacted only if a spot opens up.\n	\n	\n	We are limiting this training to 1 employee representative per membership in order to allow more members the opportunity to participate.\n\n	 \n	\n\n\n\nTRAINING TIMELINE:\n\n\n	\n	Once the training session is full\, you will be contacted with the required forms (Participant Agreement and Service Registration Intake Form) which must be completed in full and returned by the specified date or you will lose your spot.\n	\n	\n	On the Participant Agreement you will be required to include deposit information. You will only be charged for the $100 deposit if you miss more than 80% of the sessions.\n	\n	\n	Once you return your forms\, your contact information will be provided to your trainer and they will contact you to complete an Individual Needs Assessment to ensure this training is the right fit for you and your business.\n	\n	\n	Your trainer will then become your point of contact for the training and they will provide you with the information on how to join the sessions each week.\n\n	 \n	\n\n\n\nPARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS:\n\n\n	\n	The program must be taken on a computer\, laptop\, or tablet\, no phones. \n	\n	\n	Participants must have an Internet connection\, hardwired preferred vs wi-fi\, high speed no dial up.\n	\n	\n	Headset or earbuds and must have a webcam. If no webcam\, in-laptop video participation is a requirement.\n	\n	\n	Participants must display video\; required to ensure the connection to the instructor and other participants.\n	\n	\n	A quiet place to focus is required\, free of distractions.\n	\n\n\n*The above are critically important not only for the success of individual participants but also the success of the entire group.\n\n \n\n\nFINANCIAL MANAGEMENT (LEVEL II) \n\n***The Finance (Level II) course requires the participant to have completed the Finance (Level I) course.\n\n\n\nThe outcome of this training is for businesses to create a blueprint to manage financial risk within their organizations. This blueprint will guide owners and managers in making deliberate decisions inside their business based on prudent cash flow management. \n\n \n\n \n\nModule 1: Your Financial Why \n\nOutcome: Understanding your financial why and how to calculate it. \n\n\n	Understand the entrepreneurial money mindset \n	Interpret owners pay \n	Understand entrepreneurial lifestyle congruence \n	Recognize the difference between financial commitment and attachment when it come to our businesses. \n\n Module 2: Building Your Cash Flow Plan \n\nOutcome: How to calculate your Cash Flow runway (outflows) \n\n\n	Participants will develop a full understanding of the Business Continuity Cycle and identify where their business currently sits on the curve. \n	Participants will be given tools and instructions on how to conduct an expense audit on their company P&L. \n	Participants will learn how to use their balance sheet to conduct a deep dive into their payables\, understanding contract terms and obligations. \n\n Module 3   Increasing Value \n\nOutcome: The long game: how to maintain and increase value \n\n\n	How to use your balance sheet as an indicator of financial health \n	Identifying the key areas in your business that you need to optimize to increase value \n	Identifying the key areas in your business that you need to minimize to increase value \n	Define your business are you building assets? \n\n Module 4   Using Debt as a Financial Management Tool \n\nOutcome: Understanding how to use financing to mitigate risk in your business \n\n\n	Understanding the differences between equity and debt lending. \n	Introducing the two concepts of debt leveraging and debt bridging and the strategies behind both concepts. \n	Creating a debt control plan that will keep the business sustained during a time of crisis and make it stronger on the other end.\n\n  Module 5   Profitability of Your CORE \n\nOutcome: How to use financial analyses to increase margin health. \n\n\n	Avoiding the SME Survival Trap \n	Identifying where your business sits on the Business Hierarchy of Needs \n	Creating financial stability through Profit \n	Using Gross and Net Profit Analyses to assess Margin Health\n\n  Module 6   Tying it all Together \n\nOutcome: Creation of the Financial Blueprint \n\n\n	Developing the action plan \n	Reflecting on the Business Continuity Curve \n	Developing Atomic Habits for Financial Health \n\n\n\nABOUT THE TRAINER:\n\n\n\nApril Stroink\n\n\n\nApril is a certified Profit First Professional\, she trains SMEs on how to design financial systems within their businesses to become more profitable. \n\n\n\nApril is a facilitator for the Department of Labour and Advanced Education and an Associate Professor at NSCC. She has helped hundreds of people and small businesses level-up their finances through her workshops\, group programs and one-on-one coaching.\n\n\n\nIn her previous life\, April managed multiple investment teams throughout Atlantic Canada for a national insurance company. She was also the owner and operator of a successful Halifax retail operation.
