SUMMARY:COFFEE HOUR: Reflections on Reconciliation
DESCRIPTION:IN THIS SESSION\n\n\nJune\, 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's release of their final report and accompanying 94 Calls to Action.\n\n\n\nOver the past decade\, people and events have since shaped our collective pathway towards reconciliation. With conversations and dialogue about what concepts like indigenization\, decolonization and anti-racism can mean\, are we now ready to ask ourselves\, "Are we a more reconciled society?"\n\n \n\nPRESENTED BY:\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMEET YOUR PRESENTER\n\n\n\n\nWYATT WHITE | Associate Executive Director\, Confederacy of Mainland Mi'kmaq\n\n\n\nWyatt White is from the Mi'gmaq First Nation of Listuguj\, Quebec but has lived in Nova Scotia since 2002. Since joining the Nova Scotia public service\, Wyatt's career spanned Mi'kmaw community development\, intergovernmental relations\, crown-Indigenous affairs\, crown consultation and accommodation as well as Indigenous education. In 2022\, Wyatt joined the Confederacy of Mainland Mi'kmaq as the associate executive director where he works with leaders from across the organization towards strategic growth and enhancing opportunities for Mi'kmaw communities to chart their own course towards success. He is a champion for practices related to indigenizing and decolonizing mindsets when it comes to imagining Canada's future.\n\nWyatt is a dog dad\, avid curler and always proud to call Mi'kma'ki\, the traditional and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq\, home.
