DESCRIPTION:Business Support Series \n\nThe Business Support Webinar Series will explore timely topics with industry experts to provide key insights and answers on the best ways to succeed as a business. Hosted by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce\, this series will feature a wide range of topics on how to survive and thrive. \n\n\n\nSupporting the Mental Health of Your Team During Periods of Uncertainty\n\nThese unprecedented times may lead to feelings of uncertainty\, disquiet\, stress\, noticing anxiety for the first time\, or increases in anxiety that were already there. Returning to work can be both positive and stress inducing. Working from home might lead to issues with: being present\, decreased productivity despite desire to be productive\, and how to manage other responsibilities (e.g.\, childcare). \n\n\n\nDr. Pencer joins us for a webinar to discuss these concerns as well as concrete tips for managing stress during these difficult times. In addition\, Dr. Pencer will discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health in the short term and the long term and provide resources for anyone that might be experiencing anxiety and depression.\n\n \n\n\n\nDr. Alissa Pencer\n\nCo Founder Tranquility Online\n\nDr. Alissa Pencer did her B.Sc. Honours in Psychology at St. Francis Xavier University and went on to do her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Calgary. She is a Senior Instructor within the Departments of Psychology and Neuroscience and Psychiatry at Dalhousie University and a Registered Psychologist in the province of Nova Scotia. Dr. Pencer is also an Affiliated Scientist with the IWK Health Centre and the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA).\n\n\n\nDr. Pencer is a co-founder and senior scientific director for an internet-based CBT company out of Nova Scotia (Tranquility Online). She previously worked within outpatient mental health services at the IWK Health Centre for over 10 years providing CBT for anxiety and mood disorders and served as the Team Leader for the anxiety clinic for several years.\n\n\n\nDr. Pencer has been involved in several program development and evaluation initiatives including helping start-up and demonstrate the effectiveness of CBT for anxiety groups with children and adolescents and university students. She continues to provide clinical supervision to Ph.D. clinical psychology students and psychiatry residents for assessment and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for anxiety and depression.\n\n\n\nHer clinical and research interests are in the areas of prevention and treatment of anxiety disorders\, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders\, severe mental illness\, and substance use in youth and young adults.
